AND
2019 saw the introduction of Smart Tachographs into all new vehicles registered from 19th June 2019.
As of 21 Aug 2023, the updated Smart Tachograph version 2 (SMT2) is now mandatory for newly registered vehicles.
This advanced version of Smart with real time GNSS will also become mandatory for all vehicles involved in International transport.
A full retrofit program is therefore required in order to replace all existing Analogue and Digital Tachographs in cross border vehicles.
This is a phased process and the transition period has now begun:
